Mellissa continued her exploration of agar sculpting and began her curiosity of plant biology by creating environments in nutrient agar for cress seeds to grow. She was particularly interested in the secret life of a seed, and how the growth is a secret to humans unless we capture it on film. She experimented with placing seeds on top of agar as well as embedding in agar to see the affects of lighting and the textures of agar. Mellissa has experimented with time-lapse photography with bacteria and plants, she continues to use this method to capture the secret life of organisms.
